Today’s baseball matchups feature a showdown between Tampa Bay’s Cy Young award winner Blake Snell and the Jays’ Trent Thornton. Veteran left-hander Madison Bumgarner takes the mound against Miami’s Pablo Lopez. Our baseball team has analyzed tonight’s matchups in-depth to provide you with the insight you need to make money while enjoying a relaxing game of baseball.
Toronto (+215) at Tampa Bay (-250) (O/U 8 Runs)
We all know what Tampa Bay’s ace Blake Snell is capable of yet the betting public is somewhat unfamiliar with Trent Thornton. The North Carolina graduate has a 4.42 ERA, a 1.27 WHIP and 60 strikeouts in 55 innings pitched. Unfortunately, Thornton has received minimal run support as a starter. He pitched a mere three innings in his last outing against the Rays. Blake Snell has returned to his Cy Young form after suffering an early season injury. He pitched six strong innings in his last outing against the Jays. However, this is a different Blue Jays team following the arrival of young studs like Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Cavan Biggio. The Jays should keep it close.
Pick: Sugarhouse has the Jays run line of +1.5 at -106. The over/under is 8 runs. Savvy bettors will consider wagering on the Jays run line and the over.
San Francisco Giants (-124) at Miami Marlins (+102)
Madison Bumgarner will take the hill against the Marlins this evening in what seems like quite the mismatch. The fact that the Giants are slight favorites should raise some red flags. Though Bumgarner has been a bit of a dud this season, he boasts an impressive 1.19 WHIP. Part of the reason why the Giants are not heavy favorites is the fact that they have lost six consecutive games. The Marlins put up 11 runs last night against the boys from the Bay.
Pick: Look for the Giants to bounce back tonight with a narrow victory over the fish. Bettors should pounce on Sugarhouse’s -124 Giants moneyline.
Arizona Diamondbacks (-134) at Colorado Rockies (+118) (O/U 11 Runs)
Robbie Ray squares off against the Rockies’ Jeff Hoffman this evening in what looks to be a high scoring affair. To say the Diamondbacks and Rockies lineups are loaded would be an understatement. Though Ray has posted a 3.26 ERA this season, his last outing against the Rockies ended with a 10-9 final score. The Rockies’ Hoffman is relatively unknown. His ERA currently sits at a whopping 8.10. The right-hander struggled mightily against the Orioles’ lineup in his last outing, surrendering five runs in five innings.
Pick: Over 11 Runs
Chicago Cubs (-107) at Houston Astros (-114) (O/U 9 Runs)
In what is likely to be the marquee matchup of the night, the Cubs’ Kyle Hendricks takes the mound against the Astros’ Wade Miley. The soft-throwing Kendricks seems to perform best when the lights are bright. Miley boasts an impressive 1.16 WHIP yet he will face a Cubs lineup more than capable of taking him deep over the short porch in left field. Bettors should be aware of the fact that Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa are out with injuries.
Pick: Cubs moneyline (-107)
