This Wednesday, June 5th, has the potential to be quite profitable for baseball gamblers. The Orioles will take on the Rangers in what will likely be a visual treat for those who appreciate the art of pitching. Yu Darvish will attempt to put together solid back-to-back outings for the first time this season. The Angels have lost two straight but have a good chance of rebounding against a mediocre A’s team. Here is a quick look at some of this evening’s top matchups from a gambling perspective.
Atlanta Braves at Pittsburgh Pirates (O/U 9.5)
Kevin Gausman was lit up in his last outing, allowing eight runs in a single inning of work against the Nationals. Gamblers should view Gausman’s flameout as an aberration as evidenced by the fact that Sugarhouse has Gausman as a slight favorite against Joe Musgrove and the Pirates. Though the Braves lineup has yet to see Musgrove, the right-hander from El Cajon, CA has less-than-stellar numbers: a mere 51 strikeouts in 65 innings pitched, a 1.25 WHIP and a 4.57 ERA.
Pick: Braves moneyline -122
Baltimore Orioles at Texas Rangers (O/U 9)
John Means has emerged as one of the O’s best pitchers in what has been a brutal season thus far. Sugarhouse has Mike Minor and the Rangers as a fairly heavy favorite this evening yet savvy gamblers will question whether the Rangers’ batters are truly capable of seizing the “means” of production. The Rangers exploded for 11 runs in their last outing yet failed to put up more than two runs in each of the prior four contests. This matchup should turn out to be a low-scoring game.
Pick: Under 9
Colorado Rockies at Chicago Cubs (O/U N/A)
Yu Darvish has struggled with control problems this season. Do not be deceived by the fact that Darvish allowed one earned run in his last outing. To say his season has been a train wreck would be putting it nicely. German Marquez takes the hill for the 31-28 Rockies. Cubs batters have yet to see Marquez’s stuff this season yet Sugarhouse has the Rockies listed as slight dogs.
Pick: Rockies moneyline +105
Oakland A’s at Los Angeles Angels (O/U 9)
|Los Angeles Angels||-114|
Mengden and Pena have sterling statistics through the first couple months of the 2019 campaign. Pena’s WHIP is below 1.00 while Mengden has posted career-best numbers in his third season in the majors. The Angels’ bats have been quiet the last two outings against Oakland. Look for the Halos to get back on the winning side of things this evening at home.
Pick: Angels moneyline -114
