All Star Game 2019 Odds – Over/Under 8.5
The best in baseball will square off tonight in what will likely be fun contest with considerable mass appeal. Though the MLB All-Star game is no longer the spectacle it once was, it is definitely worth tuning into. Those who have some cash on the line will certainly be glued to their TV. Let’s take a quick look at what is most likely to transpire in tonight’s All-Star game.
Take a look at the American League lineup and you will notice a common theme emerges: New York Yankees hitters abound. The likes of Gary Sanchez and D.J. LeMahieu will attempt to do what seems like mission impossible: hit Hyun-jin Ryu. The National League lineup is just as scary. Justin Verlander will try to sneak some pitches by the likely MLB MVP Christian Yelich. However, the National League lineup gets progressively weaker after the leadoff spot. Yelich is followed by Javier Baez, Freddie Freeman, Nolan Arenado, etc. Though the National League batters have their fair share of power, they will struggle to play the “small ball” necessary to win what will likely be a close matchup with the American League.
The National League batters lean toward power while the American League hitters have significantly more balance. Mike Trout, Alex Bregman, Michael Brantley and George Springer have above average speed. Justin Verlander will pitch for the AL. Verlander’s numbers are not as good as Ryu’s yet Verlander pitches in the bandbox of Minute Maid Park in Houston. Cleveland’s Progressive Field should be much more pitcher-friendly even though the game’s best will be launching for the fences this evening. However, Sugarhouse has the over/under run total at a mere 8.5 runs.
The American League will certainly have its hands full with Ryu on the mound. However, Verlander should hold his own. This is precisely why Sugarhouse has the American League as a slight favorite in this evening’s All-Star game. The hitters on both sides might not put up more than a couple runs off the starting pitchers yet they should have their way with the bullpens. If you want some action on tonight’s game, consider taking the over.
Pick: Over 8.5
