This Monday, June 17th marks the return of Brewers pitcher Jhoulys Chacin. Will Jhoulys help gamblers “chacin the dream” of wagering on baseball for some extra spending money or will he fall flat? This should be quite the interesting matchup as Chacin’s Brewers will take on the hard-hitting Padres. Sugarhouse has Mike Fiers and the A’s as heavy favorites against the Baltimore Orioles in another juicy matchup from a gambling perspective. Without further adieu, let’s take a look at how baseball gamblers should approach tonight’s action on the diamond.
Milwaukee Brewers at San Diego Padres (O/U 8.5)
|San Diego Padres||-129|
Rewind the clock a few years ago and it looked like Jhoulys Chacin was an ace in the making. The hefty righty hasn’t fulfilled his potential yet the Brewers are a solid all-around team. Chacin will throw against San Diego, a team coming off a wild four game series with the Rockies. Lucchesi had average numbers: a 4.11 ERA, 73 K’s in 72.1 innings and a 5-4 record. The Brew Crew has the right-handed bats to light up this lefty. Chacin is returning from injury so he will likely be a bit rusty.
Pick: Over 8.5
Baltimore Orioles at Oakland A’s (O/U 9)
Take a look at Sugarhouse’s line on Mike Fiers for this evening’s matchup and you will think twice before rolling with the A’s. Andrew Cashner is set to pitch for the O’s. Cashner allowed a single earned run in his last outing, a matchup with the Astros. However, Cashner allowed six earned runs including five walks in his prior matchup with San Francisco. Cashner’s savings grace just might be the fact that the A’s lineup has not seen his repertoire this season.
Pick: Under 9
Miami Marlins at St. Louis Cardinals (O/U 8)
|St. Louis Cardinals||-225|
Sugarhouse has the lowly Marlins as big underdogs against the Cardinals and Mike Mikolas. This line does not make much sense as the Marlins put up five earned runs against Mikolas the last time these two teams squared off. Though Elieser Hernandez is not exactly the second coming of Roy Halladay, he struck out seven and allowed three earned runs in his last outing against the Cardinals.
Pick: Marlins run line +1.5 -110
Cleveland Indians at Texas Rangers (O/U 9.5)
Lance Lynn has shined bright for the Rangers this season. Lynn will square off against a hot Indians lineup that put up eight runs in its last outing. However, Mike Clevinger will pitch for the Indians after returning from the 60-day disabled list. Do not be deceived by Clevinger’s numbers; the righty faced two of baseball’s weakest lineups in his only two starts of the season.
Pick: Rangers Moneyline +108
