It looks like most of the country will be rain-free for this evening’s baseball action. The Cubs’ top pitching prospect, Adbert Alzolay, will try to silence Atlanta’s bats while the Brewers attempt to put together a three-game winning streak after losing five straight. Here’s a quick look at the teams and run totals baseball gamblers should put their money on this evening.
Atlanta Braves at Chicago Cubs
Adbert Alzolay weighs less than 180 pounds yet he excelled in a four-inning relief appearance five days ago against the Mets. Alzolay struck out five, walked two and allowed one earned run. The Venezuela native will take on a loaded Braves lineup tonight at Wrigley. The Braves’ Max Fried has a 4.03 ERA, a 1.34 WHIP and an 8-3 record. This should be an entertaining matchup to say the least. The Cubs are likely to roll simply because Atlanta hitters have yet to see Alzolay’s arsenal of pitches.
Pick: Cubs Moneyline +104
Seattle Mariners at Milwaukee Brewers (O/U 10)
Marco Gonzales has settled down quite nicely after allowing 10 earned runs against the Angels. The Brew Crew’s Zach Davies allowed five earned runs in a mere 2.2 innings the last time he pitched. Sugarhouse’s over/under of 10 runs seems a bit high for these two pitchers.
Pick: Under 10
Oakland A’s at St. Louis Cardinals (O/U 8.5)
|St. Louis Cardinals||-136|
Jack Flaherty allowed two home runs yet only surrendered a total of three earned runs in his last outing, a 6-0 loss to the basement-dwelling Marlins. Chris Bassitt has been solid all season long for the A’s. If Sugarhouse had set the over/under at 9 or 10 runs, the play would be the under. Bassitt should be able o keep the Cards’ bats in check.
Pick: A’s Moneyline +118
Cincinnati Reds at Los Angeles Angels (O/U 9)
|Los Angeles Angels||-157|
Tyler Mahle has been surprisingly consistent for the 36-40 Reds. Mahle has allowed a mere two earned runs in his last outing, a 3-2 over the Astros. Andrew Heaney’s numbers are terrible: a 5.68 ERA and an 0-1 record. Though Heaney has a 1.14 WHIP, gamblers should not trust him. Heaney allowed five earned runs in 3.2 innings his last time on the hill. This game should go over with ease.
Pick: Over 9
