It looks like the weather will cooperate for a full slate of baseball action this evening. The Mets will attempt to continue their “dead cat bounce” against the Padres while the Dodgers will play host to the Angels. The skidding Rockies will attempt to get back on track against the blazing hot Nats. Let’s take a look at the most likely outcomes of tonight’s action.
Colorado Rockies at Washington Nationals O/U 9.5
Rewind time back to June and you would have found some fantasy baseball owners were giving up on Patrick Corbin. Those who claimed Corbin off the fantasy waiver wire found an absolute gold mine. Corbin is back to his usual self yet he will square off against one of the best lineups in baseball this evening when he faces the Rockies. The Rockies’ Kyle Freeland has not made it past the fourth inning in five starts. Freeland has surrendered five earned runs in each of his three prior starts. The Nats’ hot bats should have no problem hitting Freeland.
Pick: Over 9.5
San Diego Padres at New York Mets O/U 8.5
|San Diego Padres||+135|
|New York Mets||-167|
Noah Syndergaard might be traded by the deadline yet he will likely put up at least one more win in a Mets uniform. Parx has the Mets as -167 favorites against the Padres for good reason. The Mets bats are hot, the team seems to have rounded a corner and they are playing at home. The Padres’ Dinelson Lamet has allowed 8 earned runs across 14 innings. The rookie righty sure strikes out his fair share of batters yet he has not earned a win this season.
Pick: Mets moneyline -167
Miami Marlins at Chicago White Sox O/U 9
|Chicago White Sox||-115|
Parx has the over/under for tonight’s matchup between the Marlins and White Sox at 9, a bit lower than most gamblers would expect when Reynaldo Lopez is on the hill. However, Zac Gallen will pitch for the Marlins. Gallen has solid numbers: a 3.63 ERA, a 1.48 WHIP and 26 Ks across 22.1 innings. If you insist on betting this game, take the under.
Pick: Under 9
Los Angeles Angels at Los Angeles Dodgers O/U 9.5
|Los Angeles Angels||+165|
|Los Angeles Dodgers||-205|
The Angels and Dodgers are two of the better teams in baseball yet Parx has the Dodgers listed as heavy favorites for tonight’s matchup. Ross Stripling certainly has better statistics than Jaime Barria yet Barria has the potential to put up a solid outing. The righty from Panama City had a nice three-game streak in which he allowed two runs or less until imploding last week against the lowly Mariners. This should be a high-scoring game simply because the Dodgers have the left-handed bats necessary to blast multiple home runs off Barria and the Angels have more than enough power to send Stripling to an early exit.
Pick: Over 9.5
