The majority of the country will have clear skies for uninterrupted baseball action this evening. Most of tonight’s matchups feature weak pitchers so we might have some high-scoring games. Below, we take a look at four of tonight’s tilts, highlighted by a matchup between Dallas Keuchel and the Braves squaring off with Patrick Corbin and the Nats.
Pittsburgh Pirates at Cincinnati Reds O/U 9.5
Team | Moneyline Odds |
---|---|
Pittsburgh Pirates | +165 |
Cincinnati Reds | -200 |
Sonny Gray has pitched fairly well this season after a disappointing 2018 season. Parx has Gray listed as a massive -200 favorite against the disappointing Pirates. Jordan Lyles will pitch for the Pirates. Lyles only made it through four frames the last time he faced the Reds. That game turned out to be an 11-6 loss. However, Lyles let in a mere three earned runs, throwing a total of 72 pitches. The righty should struggle against the Reds’ left-handed power hitters, hence the -200 line from Parx.
Pick: Reds run line -1.5 -104
Arizona Diamondbacks at Miami Marlins O/U 8
Team | Moneyline Odds |
---|---|
Arizona Diamondbacks | -108 |
Miami Marlins | -113 |
In what might end up being one of the least entertaining matchups of the evening, the Diamondbacks will take on the Marlins in Miami. Marlins’ pitcher Caleb Smith has solid numbers: a 3.30 ERA, a 1.02 WHIP and 110 Ks across 90 frames. Smith has not allowed more than three earned runs since early June when he faced the Brewers. Merrill Kelly allowed three long balls and seven earned runs the last time he pitched, a 7-2 loss to the Orioles.
Pick: Over 8
Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals O/U 9.5
Team | Moneyline Odds |
---|---|
Atlanta Braves | +130 |
Washington Nationals | -157 |
Dallas Keuchel had a solid outing his last time on the hill, throwing 102 pitches across six innings and allowing merely two earned runs. Patrick Corbin has also rebounded nicely since his mid-season struggles. Corbin has allowed three earned runs or less in every start going back to mid-June. As a result, Parx has set the over/under line for this one at 9.5. However, Atlanta has the right-handed hitting necessary to send Corbin to an early exit.
Pick: Braves moneyline +130
Detroit Tigers at Los Angeles Angels O/U 10.5
Team | Moneyline Odds |
---|---|
Detroit Tigers | +200 |
Los Angeles Angels | -245 |
Will Jordan Zimmermann ever get a win? The veteran pitcher is 0-8 and facing one of the better lineups in baseball this evening in a matchup with the angels. Zimmermann has not made it to the fifth inning in a start since his June 30 matchup with the Nationals. Jaime Barria bounced back in his last start, a win against the Dodgers after melting down against Seattle the week prior. However, the righty from Panama has an ERA near seven and a WHIP hovering around 1.5.
Pick: Angels run line -1.5 -129
