Now that the trade deadline has passed it will be that much easier to separate the teams in it to win it from those with an eye on next season. Some of the game’s premier pitchers will take the hill tonight, highlighted by Gerrit Cole and Clayton Kershaw. This evening’s action has the potential to be low-scoring with a number of heavy favorites prevailing.
Houston Astros at Cleveland Indians O/U 9
Parx has Gerrit Cole listed as a massive favorite as the righty from UCLA has not allowed more than a single earned run in three consecutive starts. Danny Salazar will pitch for the 63-44 Indians. Salazar has a 3.82 ERA along with a 1.26 WHIP so it does not make sense for him to be such a gigantic underdog this evening. The Indians should keep this one close.
Pick: Indians run line +1.5 +107
Tampa Bay Rays at Boston Red Sox O/U 10.5
|Tampa Bay Rays||+110|
|Boston Red Sox||-134|
Andrew Cashner was a solid pickup for Boston. The former Oriole allows his fair share of hits yet he rarely walks batters. Cashner will take on the 62-48 Rays tonight at Fenway tonight. Brendan McKay will toss for Tampa. McKay has a sterling 3.72 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. The Red Sox have yet to see McKay’s arsenal so the lefty from Louisville should be able to keep Boston in check for at least part of the night.
Pick: Under 10.5
Chicago Cubs at St. Louis Cardinals O/U 8.5
|St. Louis Cardinals||-121|
Jon Lester has not had a fantastic year yet Parx has him listed at even money against the Cardinals. St. Louis will roll out Jack Flaherty to the hill. Flaherty made it through 3.2 innings the last time he pitched against the Cubs, surrendering four earned runs on five hits and three walks. The 23-year-old will likely struggle against the Cubs once again this evening yet Parx has him listed as a slight favorite.
Pick: Cubs moneyline +100
San Diego Padres at Los Angeles Dodgers O/U 8
|San Diego Padres||+185|
|Los Angeles Dodgers||-235|
The Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw is having yet another amazing season. Kershaw will go up against the Padres’ fierce lineup this evening as a -235 favorite as listed by Parx. Joey Lucchesi will pitch for San Diego. Lucchesi allowed three earned runs across 6.1 frames the last time he faced the Dodgers. However, Lucchesi imploded 10 days later in a matchup with the Cubs. The Pads’ bats should be able to keep this one close. The fact that Lucchesi is a lefty bodes well as he will face a Dodgers lineup with ample left-handed power.
Pick: Padres run line +1.5 -107
