Baseball gamblers have a massive slate of games to choose from this evening. There are plenty of money-making opportunities on the board. Let’s take a look at four of this evening’s matchups and attempt to pick the best bets.
Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers O/U 8.5
|Chicago White Sox||-135|
Lucas Giolito has tailed off a bit from where he was earlier in the season. Though Giolito has not pitched his best in the past month or so, he will face a weak Tigers lineup this evening at Comerica Park. The Tigers’ Spencer Turnbull had been fairly solid up until his June 16 start against Cleveland in which he was blown up for six earned runs. Turnbull has not pitched since July 17 due to injury. The White Sox have some hot bats in their lineup so Turnbull might struggle tonight.
Pick: White Sox moneyline -135
Oakland A’s at Chicago Cubs O/U 9.5
The A’s Chris Bassitt has surprised just about everyone in the baseball world with his performance this season. Bassitt will take on a loaded Cubs lineup tonight at Wrigley Field. Kyle Hendricks will pitch for the Cubs. Hendricks is 8-8 with a 3.07 ERA. Hendricks has been on fire of late and the A’s have yet to see his stuff this season. The pressing question is whether the Cubs can hit Bassitt. Let’s assume the Cubbies put up four runs tonight. The A’s will likely struggle to put up four against Hendricks. However, Parx has the Cubs at significant favorites (-155) so you would have to put down a wad of cash to get a sizable return on the Cubbies moneyline. Consider wagering on the Cubs moneyline and run line.
Pick: Cubs moneyline -155 and run line -1.5
Atlanta Braves at Minnesota Twins O/U 10
Mike Soroka and Jake Odorizzi have opened some eyes this season. Both pitchers are young, relatively unknown and tossing for superb teams. Soroka has a 2.37 ERA along with a 1.11 WHIP and a 10-2 record. Odorizzi has a 3.73 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP. However, Odorizzi was lit up by the Yankees two starts ago. Soroka doesn’t have a similar implosion on his game log across the past two months. Furthermore, the Braves have some truly amazing hitters. Atlanta should roll tonight even though Parx has them listed at even money.
Pick: Braves moneyline -109
Washington Nationals (Erick Fedde +100) at San Francisco Giants (Jeff Samardzija -120) O/U 8.5
|San Francisco Giants||-120|
Jeff Samardzija has quickly turned his season around. The “Shark” as he was once dubbed, will face a Nats lineup this evening with ample power and speed. The Nats’ Erick Fedde has a 4.67 ERA along with a 1.46 WHIP yet he only has 30 strikeouts across 54 innings. The Giants have shown signs of life these past few weeks. Look for San Fran to prevail tonight.
Pick: Giants moneyline -120
