Baseball fans will have the chance to watch one of the best pitchers in the history of the game this evening as the Nats take on the Pirates. Max Scherzer finally returns to the hill after a stint on the IL. Another one of the game’s elite arms will be on display in the Big Apple when Noah Syndergaard and the Mets do battle with the Indians. Parx has the over/unders for these two games set right around eight runs. The Jays and Dodgers will also square off in what will likely be one of the more intriguing interleague series of the year.
Washington Nationals at Pittsburgh Pirates O/U 8.5
Max Scherzer returns from injury to take on a weak Pirates lineup in Pittsburgh. Parx has Scherzer as a big favorite even though he will have to dust off the cobwebs. The Pirates’ Steven Brault is 3-2 with a 4.06 ERA. The lefty went seven innings in his last outing, allowing a single earned run to the Cubs. However, Brault will face the buzzsaw that is the Nationals lineup tonight. The Nats’ bats are hot, having put up 11 runs in their last outing.
Pick: Nationals moneyline
Cleveland Indians at New York Mets O/U 8
|New York Mets||-155|
Noah Syndergaard has cemented himself in the top tier of pitchers. Though Cleveland has solid hitters, they are likely to struggle tonight. It is awfully difficult to go against Syndergaard, especially when the Mets’ bats are on fire. Aaron Civale will attempt to put a stop to the Mets’ winning streak at four games. Civale has made it through six innings in his four starts this season. The East Windsor, CT native has a solid 1.50 ERA and a WHIP under one. However, the Mets have enough momentum to beat any pitcher.
Pick: Mets moneyline
New York Yankees at Oakland A’s O/U 9.5
|New York Yankees||-118|
Masahiro Tanaka seems to have things straightened out after getting lit up after the All-Star break. Unfortunately, the Yankees will have to square off with Tanner Roark. Roark has been fantastic since being traded to the A’s from Cincy. Roark has allowed a total of five earned runs in the 17.2 innings he has pitched as an A. The Yankees’ hitters have yet to see Roark’s stuff so this one should go under.
Pick: Under 9.5
Toronto Blue Jays at Los Angeles Dodgers O/U 9
|Toronto Blue Jays||+215|
|Los Angeles Dodgers||-275|
In one of the rarer MLB matchups, the Blue Jays and Dodgers will compete in an interleague contest sure to draw plenty of attention. Parx has the Dodgers as sizable favorites as dependable righty Kenta Maeda will take the hill against an inexperienced Jays lineup. Jacob Waguespack’s numbers are getting better yet he will likely struggle against a Dodgers’ lineup capable of going yard at any given moment. The return of Vlad Guerrero Jr. should help this total hit the over.
Pick: Over 9
