With one month left in the regular season, this is the time for MLB teams to give it everything they’ve got in the battle for a playoff position. The Yankees and Dodgers have already cemented their status as favorites in their respective leagues. The two teams will play tonight at Dodger Stadium. The Jays and Mariners will square off in a battle between one-time expansion teams that entered the league in the same year of 1977.
San Francisco Giants at Oakland A’s O/U 9
|San Francisco Giants||+128|
Logan Webb pitched five innings against Arizona in his only outing of the season, allowing a single earned run on five hits and a walk while striking out seven. The righty from Rocklin, CA will likely have things a bit tougher this time out against the A’s. Brett Anderson pitches to contact and it showed in his last outing when he was trounced by the Astros. However, Parx has Anderson and the A’s as favorites tonight as the Giants lineup is not exactly the most intimidating in the big leagues.
Pick: Under 9
Boston Red Sox at San Diego Padres O/U 9.5
|Boston Red Sox||+104|
|San Diego Padres||-125|
Joey Lucchesi has been on a roll since July 20 when he surrendered six earned runs to the Cubs. The southpaw from SE Missouri St. held the Phillies to two earned runs in his last outing. It will be interesting to see if he can contain the Red Sox bats tonight. Gamblers should know Lucchesi has not made it through more than six innings in two months. Sox pitcher Brian Johnson has worked out of the bullpen this season. He allowed three earned runs in his last outing which lasted a mere 3.2 innings. The lefty has terrible numbers: a 6.58 ERA along with a 2.04 WHIP.
Pick: Padres moneyline
Toronto Blue Jays at Seattle Mariners O/U 9.5
|Toronto Blue Jays||+118|
Clay Buchholz is nowhere near the pitcher he was years back when he was with the Red Sox. The 35-year-old allowed seven earned runs in his last outing, a 10-2 loss to the Rangers. Thankfully, the Mariners’ bats will be much easier to tame than the Rangers. Marco Gonzales allowed two long balls but only three earned runs on five hits in his last start, a 9-3 win over the Rays. Gonzales has below average stats on the season yet he will face an uninspiring Blue Jays lineup tonight. Gonzales has not allowed more than four earned runs but for once in his past 10 starts.
Pick: Mariners moneyline
New York Yankees at Los Angeles Dodgers O/U 8.5
|New York Yankees||+145|
|Los Angeles Dodgers||-180|
Domingo German has stumbled since his hot start to the season. German is 16-3 yet he has an ERA in excess of four. German allowed five earned runs in 5.1 innings in his last outing, a 6-2 loss to the A’s. Clayton Kershaw is set to pitch for the Dodgers. Kershaw allowed three runs across six innings in his last start which is quite the aberration from his usual minuscule stat line. The Dodgers should be able to put up at least three runs against German considering the fact that their lineup is chock-full of solid left-handed hitters. Add in the fact that this is a home game on a Sunday night and there is all the more reason to believe Parx has this line right on the money. Roll with the Dodgers.
Pick: Dodgers moneyline
