The likes of Luis Castillo, Lucas Giolito, David Price and Julio Teheran will pitch tonight. Though some of these games will likely be low-scoring, true baseball fans and bettors respect the art of pitching. Below, we attempt to predict the outcomes of this evening’s action on the diamond.
Boston Red Sox at Los Angeles Angels O/U 9
Team | Moneyline |
---|---|
Boston Red Sox | -112 |
Los Angeles Angels | -109 |
The Red Sox have had a disappointing season yet they are still mathematically alive for a playoff spot. David Price will pitch today. Price has not pitched since August 4 when he surrendered seven earned runs in a mere 2.2 innings. Unfortunately, Price will face the Angels lineup, a group capable of putting up a crooked number in any given inning. Andrew Heaney, a lefty from Oklahoma State, will pitch for the Angels. Heaney’s ERA dipped below four after a 6-inning shutout performance against the Tigers last week. Heaney allowed one run in 3.2 innings the last time he faced the Red Sox. Price should be a bit rusty after his extended absence. Heaney is on a roll. The Angels have a good chance of winning this game.
Pick: Angels moneyline
Chicago White Sox at Atlanta Braves O/U 9
Team | Moneyline |
---|---|
Chicago White Sox | +135 |
Atlanta Braves | -165 |
Julio Teheran’s pitching stats this season have peaked and dipped similar to a roller coaster. Gamblers simply cannot trust Teheran. Though Parx has the White Sox as underdogs in this matchup, they should keep it close or even win it outright. Sox pitcher Lucas Giolito has a 1.10 WHIP and a 3.20 ERA. The Braves have not seen Giolito’s stuff so he should be able to contain Atlanta’s bats.
Pick: White Sox run line +1.5 -155
New York Mets at Philadelphia Phillies O/U 9.5
Team | Moneyline |
---|---|
New York Mets | -124 |
Philadelphia Phillies | +102 |
Marcus Stroman is a decent pitcher yet it is practically a given he will allow at least three runs across five or six frames in every outing. The only thing in Stroman’s favor is the fact that the Phillies batters have not seen his pitching arsenal. Philadelphia’s Zach Eflin has been on a roll since allowing six earned runs on July 27. Though Eflin’s season numbers are underwhelming, he is on fire right now. The only caveat is the fact that most of Eflin’s recent dominant starts have come against some of the weaker lineups in the big leagues.
Pick: Over 9.5
Cincinnati Reds at St. Louis Cardinals O/U 7.5
Team | Moneyline |
---|---|
Cincinnati Reds | -120 |
St. Louis Cardinals | +100 |
It is interesting that Parx has Luis Castillo and the Reds as only -120 favorites this evening. Castillo boasts a 3.21 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP yet he has allowed 14 earned runs across his past three starts. Daniel Ponce de Leon’s seasons stats are worse than his career averages, partially because he has allowed 10 earned runs in his last nine innings pitched. The righty should struggle tonight against the Reds’ powerful lefties.
Pick: Reds moneyline
