Parx has a number of juicy lines for this evening’s baseball action. The Phillies and Braves game is particularly interesting as Vince Velasquez will square off against Dallas Keuchel in what will likely be a game worth watching. Without further adieu, let’s predict tonight’s baseball action.
Seattle Mariners at Pittsburgh Pirates O/U 9
Marco Gonzales is a halfway decent pitcher yet he does not always get sufficient run support. Though the lefty’s ERA is slightly over four and he has a 1.36 WHIP, he allowed merely two earned runs in his last start. It is quite interesting that Gonzales struck out seven in that outing yet struck out no batters while walking five in the prior outing. Mitch Keller strikes out his fair share of batters yet he also surrenders an abundance of runs. Keller allowed five earned runs across five frames in his last outing, a 5-4 loss against the Giants. The fact that Parx has Keller’s Pirates listed as a favorite is a testament to the Mariners’ lack of offense.
Pick: Under 9
San Francisco Giants at Boston Red Sox O/U 10.5
|San Francisco Giants||+170|
|Boston Red Sox||-215|
Nathan Eovaldi has been pitching four or five frames per routing after being used in limited action out of the bullpen. Eovaldi has a 5.81 ERA along with a 1.54 WHIP. Logan Webb has not fared well in his limited action. The righty from Rocklin, CA has an ERA around seven and a 1.76 WHIP. This game could get ugly for Webb and the Giants.
Pick: Over 10.5
Philadelphia Phillies at Atlanta Braves O/U 10
Vince Velasquez had a rough outing his last time out, surrendering four earned runs across 4.1 frames against the Mets. However, Velasquez is usually solid across five frames, allowing two or three earned runs in his typical outing. Dallas Keuchel has been sharp since a mid-season implosion against the Marlins of all teams yet he might struggle tonight against a Phillies lineup loaded with potent right-handed bats.
Pick: Under 10 and Phillies moneyline +150
San Diego Padres at Milwaukee Brewers O/U 9
|San Diego Padres||+110|
The Brewers will look to continue their winning ways against the Padres. Brandon Woodruff will take the mound for the Brewers. Woodruff has not pitched since late July due to injury. Though Woodruff has a 3.75 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP, it might take an outing or two to get his mechanics back to normal. The Padres will roll out Chris Paddack to the mound. Paddack has pitched back-to-back shutouts against the Diamondbacks and Cubs. The 23-year-old has a 3.38 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP. However, the Brew Crew is on a roll. This one should just barely hit the over.
Pick: Over 9
