Tonight’s baseball action features the blazing hot Brewers hosting the Padres and the seemingly unbeatable Dodgers hosting the Rays. There are also some matchups between teams unlikely to make the playoffs yet these games are certainly meaningful to baseball gamblers. Let’s take a look at what is likely to transpire on the diamonds this evening.
San Diego Padres at Milwaukee Brewers O/U 8
|San Diego Padres||+134|
It seems like no one can beat the Milwaukee Brewers. Rewind time a couple weeks back and the Brew Crew was seemingly out of the playoff mix. With about a dozen games to go in the regular season, the Brewers are now legitimate contenders for the division title. However, the Brewers will have to beat the rock-solid Dinelson Lamet tonight. Lamet has an ERA around four, a 1.26 WHIP and 81 Ks across 62 frames. The righty has not allowed more than three runs in a start in nearly a month. Brewers pitcher Adrian Houser typically pitches four or five innings, allowing about three runs per outing. Houser will look to rebound from a meltdown in his last start when he surrendered four earned runs in three innings to the Cardinals. Though Houser does not pitch deep into games, he strikes out plenty of batters so he should be able to fare well against the free-swinging Padres this evening.
Pick: Brewers moneyline -134
Chicago White Sox at Minnesota Twins O/U 10.5
|Chicago White Sox||+220|
Baseball gamblers simply cannot trust Ivan Nova. Nova has an ERA approaching five, a 1.46 WHIP and a pathetic 106 Ks in 176 innings of work. The monster righty allowed five earned runs in his last start, an outing that lasted merely 3.1 innings. However, Nova shut out the Twins the last time he faced them. Jake Odorizzi has allowed three runs or less in each of his starts since getting hammered by the Yankees back on July 24.
Pick: Under 10.5
Seattle Mariners at Pittsburgh Pirates O/U 9.5
FanDuel has the shell-shocked Pirates as slight favorites this evening. The team’s closer, Felipe Vazquez, was arrested yesterday for allegedly being a child predator. Though the Pirates will be playing at home this evening, you have to question the team’s unity and spirit following the Vazquez situation. Look for the Mariners to pull out the victory tonight behind little-known Justin Dunn. Dunn has only pitched two-thirds of an inning in the big leagues. Though Dunn is not exactly a household name, he is only 23-years-old. Pirates pitcher Dario Agrazal has an ERA hovering around five and a mere 30 strikeouts in 62.1 innings pitched. Agrazal rarely makes it beyond the fourth inning in his starts.
Pick: Mariners moneyline +102
Tampa Bay Rays at Los Angeles Dodgers O/U 8.5
|Tampa Bay Rays||+114|
|Los Angeles Dodgers||-130|
FanDuel has the Dodgers listed as slight favorites tonight as it is a home game against a Rays team that seems somewhat overrated. Rays pitcher Brendan McKay has a 5.27 ERA along with a 1.45 WHIP. McKay rarely pitches more than three innings. Dodgers pitcher Tony Gonsolin has been solid since debuting back on June 26. The righty has an ERA under three and a 1.00 WHIP.
Pick: Dodgers moneyline -130
