Plenty of lesser-known pitchers will throw this evening, presenting a number of juicy wagering opportunities for baseball gamblers. Even some of this evening’s matchups featuring veteran pitchers are intriguing thanks to FanDuel’s lines. Here is a quick look at the likely outcomes of tonight’s action on the diamond.
St. Louis Cardinals at Chicago Cubs O/U 7
Team | Moneyline |
---|---|
St. Louis Cardinals | -108 |
Chicago Cubs | -108 |
The Cardinals look like the team to beat in the National League Central division. If the Cards win tonight, they will be heavily favored to win the Central simply because the Brewers are dealing with an array of injuries and the Cubs are starting to slide. Jack Flaherty shut out the Cubs across seven frames the last time he faced them. Kyle Hendricks also shut out the Cardinals in his last outing against St. Louis. Hendricks has been a roll since allowing half a dozen runs to the Mets on August 28.
Pick: Under 7
Los Angeles Angels at New York Yankees O/U 9
Team | Moneyline |
---|---|
Los Angeles Angels | +215 |
New York Yankees | -275 |
Andrew Heaney has allowed a combined total of 14 earned runs in his last 14.1 innings. Heaney is a lefty so the Yankees’ right-handed batters should eat him alive. The same is likely to occur in the matchup between lefty J.A. Happ and the right-handed power hitters on the Angels. Even though Mike Trout is out for the rest of the year with a foot injury, the Angels are still capable of putting up a crooked number in any given inning. In his last start, Happ allowed two earned runs in less than five innings of work, allowing seven hits and walking three. There should be plenty of runs in tonight’s contest.
Pick: Over 9
Toronto Blue Jays at Baltimore Orioles O/U 10
Team | Moneyline |
---|---|
Toronto Blue Jays | -128 |
Baltimore Orioles | +110 |
Anthony Kay struck out eight batters in his debut against the Rays then surrendered five earned runs against the Bronx Bombers. Kay, a lefty originally drafted int he first round by the Mets, will face a weak Orioles lineup tonight. Baltimore’s Aaron Brooks has an ERA in excess of six and a WHIP approaching 1.50. Brooks has settled down quite nicely since allowing nine earned runs in a 23-3 loss to the Astros. This one should go over FanDuel’s run total of 10.
Pick: Over 10
Kansas City Royals at Minnesota Twins O/U 10
Team | Moneyline |
---|---|
Kansas City Royals | +230 |
Minnesota Twins | -270 |
Kyle Gibson has been somewhat of a mess since allowing five earned runs to the White Sox on August 19. Things will be slightly easier tonight when Gibson faces the lowly Royals. Kansas City starter Mike Montgomery walks his fair share of batters, strikes out hardly anyone and has an ERA bordering on five. Montgomery is a lefty so Minnesota’s power righties should be able to hit a few long balls.
Pick: Over 10
