With only six days left in the MLB regular season, there is precious little time remaining to make money on America’s pastime. Though we do not have a full slate of games tonight, there are plenty of opportunities on the board. Here are your best baseball bets for the evening.
Oakland A’s at Seattle Mariners O/U 9
Sean Manaea has been fantastic since returning to action after undergoing shoulder surgery. Manaea held opponents to a mere three earned runs across four starts. Mariners pitcher Felix Hernandez has had a roller coaster of a season, seemingly allowing either one earned run per outing or half a dozen. Baseball gamblers would be foolish to trust Hernandez simply because he is the Dr. Jekyll-Mr. Hyde of pitching as evidenced by FanDuel’s +182 line on the Marlins for tonight.
Pick: A’s moneyline -210
Miami Marlins at New York Mets O/U 8.5
|New York Mets||-260|
Zack Wheeler silenced the Marlins bats the last time he faced them, allowing eight hits, one walk and zero earned runs in a 5-0 victory. However, one of the Marlins best young pitchers, Jordan Yamamoto, will take the mound tonight. Yamamoto has tailed off after a hot start to his big league career yet he is still a solid pitcher. The Hawaii native surrendered four earned runs across six frames the last time he faced the Mets. Though Yamamoto only allowed two earned runs in his last start, he was pulled after 4.1 innings.
Pick: Mets moneyline -260
Houston Astros at Los Angeles Angels O/U 9.5
|Los Angeles Angels||+195|
The Houston Astros and Los Angeles Angels have plenty of power in their lineups yet the Astros have a gigantic advantage when it comes to pitching. The difference in these two squads’ pitchers is quite evident in tonight’s matchup between Wade Miley and Jaime Barria. Miley has a sub-4 ERA, a 1.33 WHIP. Angels pitcher Jaime Barria has a 6.43 ERA, a 1.44 WHIP and a 4-10 record. The Astros should prevail in this mismatch even though Barria allowed a mere two earned runs the last time he faced the Astros.
Pick: Astros moneyline -235
Chicago Cubs at Pittsburgh Pirates O/U 9
Jose Quintana is having a late-season meltdown of epic proportions. Quintana has allowed 14 earned runs in his last 13.2 innings pitched. The veteran lefty struggled against the Pirates the last time he faced them on September 15, allowing five earned runs across 2.1 innings. This poor performance does not bode well for Quintana’s matchup against the Buccos tonight. Pirates pitcher Joe Musgrove allowed two earned runs across 7.1 frames the last time he faced the Cubs. Musgrove seems to have the Cubs lineup mastered yet his season stats leave much to be desired: a 4.49 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP.
Pick: Pirates moneyline +105
