Though most of tonight’s baseball games have no impact whatsoever on the playoff race, that does not mean baseball gamblers should sit on the sidelines. Take a close look at the matchups for this evening and you will find there is plenty of opportunity. Without further adieu, here are the best baseball bets for this Friday, September 27.
Cleveland Indians at Washington Nationals O/U 9.5
Zach Plesac fell flat on his face in his last outing, a 9-4 loss to the Phillies. Plesac seems to either lock down opposing batters or get rocked for 4+ runs per outing. The young righty from Ball State will face the Nationals this evening. Nats pitcher Austin Voth has been fantastic in his eight starts this season. Voth has a 3.35 ERA along with a 1.17 WHIP and 39 Ks in 37.2 innings. However, Washington has already secured a playoff spot so they are likely to rest some starters. Add in the fact that both squads’ batters have yet to face off against each’s respective pitchers in the 2019 campaign and FanDuel’s under of 9.5 looks that much more tempting.
Pick: Under 9.5
Tampa Bay Rays at Toronto Blue Jays O/U 9.5
|Tampa Bay Rays||-198|
|Toronto Blue Jays||+170|
Tyler Glasnow has been limited to three inning outings since returning from injury in early September. However, there is a good chance Glasnow will pitch deep into this game as the Rays are in the race for a playoff spot. Toronto pitcher T.J. Zeuch has pitched a mere 17.2 innings this season yet he has started four games. Zeuch’s numbers leave much to be desired: a 4.58 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP. As long as Glasnow can pitch 5+ innings, the Rays should win this game.
Pick: Rays moneyline -198
Atlanta Braves at New York Mets O/U 8
|New York Mets||-122|
Braves pitcher Mike Foltynewicz allowed one earned run the last time he faced the Mets. Mets pitcher Marcus Stroman surrendered two runs across 5.1 frames in his last outing against Atlanta. The Braves have already secured a playoff spot. The Mets are eliminated from playoff contention. This is a difficult game to handicap as the Braves might rest some of their starters and possibly even limit Foltynewicz to three or four innings so he is fresh for the postseason. When in doubt, roll with the home squad.
Pick: Mets moneyline -122
Milwaukee Brewers at Colorado Rockies O/U 13.5
The Brewers rested Ryan Braun, Lorenzo Cain and Mike Moustakas yesterday even though they are still chasing the NL Central crown. However, even if Milwaukee rests some of its stars once again this evening, they will still likely trounce the Rockies as Chi Chi Gonzalez is one of the worst pitchers in the game. Gonzalez has an ERA nearing six and a WHIP over 1.5. The righty from Oral Roberts has a mere 40 Ks in nearly 60 innings pitched. In other words, the Brew Crew will rake tonight. The only question is whether Zach Davies can hold the Rockies bats in check. Davies has fared well since allowing seven runs to the Cubs back on July 28. Davies is on the small side, weighing a mere 155 pounds yet he should have plenty left in the tank as he is usually limited to 70-80 pitches per game.
Pick: Brewers moneyline
