Baseball fans will be treated to an array of interesting matchups this evening across the land of the free and the home of the brave. The revitalized Mets will host the Phillies in a game with significant wild card implications. The Orioles will take on the Rangers in a seemingly meaningless game. However, this matchup will mean plenty to baseball gamblers. Let’s take a look at the likely outcomes of tonight’s baseball action.
Texas Rangers at Baltimore Orioles O/U 9
Most baseball gamblers know Dylan Bundy is a halfway decent pitcher. Bundy typically pitches six innings per outing yet he rarely receives adequate run support. Bundy has allowed a combined total of six runs in his last 18 innings of work. Rangers pitcher Brock Burke is 0-1 with a 1.50 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP. Manager Chris Woodward indicated Burke’s pitch count will likely be limited this evening. The lefty from the windy city has been spectacular in each of his outings, making it through six innings in each start while allowing merely three total earned runs.
Pick: Under 9
Philadelphia Phillies at New York Mets O/U 8.5
|New York Mets||-157|
Steven Matz has allowed two earned runs or less in each of his last five starts. The lefty will face an intimidating Phillies lineup tonight. Phillies pitcher Zach Eflin has been fantastic in his past two starts after transitioning from the bullpen. Eflin’s season numbers are not impressive yet those figures are skewed as a result of a couple six and seven run outings. Eflin allowed a single run the last time he faced the Mets. However, Mets batters are now familiar with Eflin’s pitching arsenal so things won’t be so easy this time around for Eflin.
Pick: Over 8.5
Washington Nationals at Atlanta Braves O/U 9
Though it is hard to believe, some fantasy baseball players dropped Patrick Corbin mid-season after one of his several meltdowns. Corbin has gotten his season back on track in the past couple months. Unfortunately, Corbin will face a loaded Braves lineup tonight in Atlanta. The Braves only scored two earned runs against Corbin the last time they faced him. Dallas Keuchel will pitch for Atlanta tonight. Keuchel has allowed a grand total of three earned runs across his past four starts after getting rocked for eight runs by the pathetic Marlins back on August 8th. Both the Braves and Nats have enough right-handed power to hit Parx’s over/under run total of nine runs.
Pick: Over 9
Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers O/U 10
The Brewers are skidding and the Cubs are ascending. However, tonight’s game in Milwaukee could go either way as evidenced by Parx’s +102 moneyline for the Brewers. Zach Davies might not look that intimidating yet he is a solid big league pitcher. We all know Cole Hamels is capable of throwing a complete game shutout on any given night. The fact that this is a Friday night matchup in Milwaukee certainly bodes well for the desperate Brewers. If you absolutely have to have action on this matchup, consider a small wager on the over simply because the Cubs bats are hot and the Brew Crew will likely step it up in an important home game.
Pick: Over 10
