Today’s baseball schedule is intentionally light as Sunday marks the beginning of the NFL season. Though there are not many games to choose from for baseball gamblers, there are several money-making opportunities. Let’s take a quick look at the best baseball bets for the games that will take place later this afternoon and evening.
Detroit Tigers at Oakland Athletics O/U 9
Team | Moneyline |
---|---|
Detroit Tigers | +245 |
Oakland Athletics | -315 |
Oakland pitcher Sean Manaea was spectacular in his return to the mound. The lefty squared off against the Yankees after an extended absence from baseball action. Manaea pitched five shutout innings, walking three and allowing only one hit to the Bronx Bombers. Tigers pitcher Daniel Norris has also been fairly effective this season. Norris has an ERA approaching five yet there is a decent chance his outings will end in no earned runs allowed across four or five frames. The lefty has two shutouts in his last four appearances, albeit in limited action. However, Oakland’s lineup can easily put up a crooked number or two against Norris, especially in a weekend home game.
Pick: Athletics run line -1.5 -150
Colorado Rockies at San Diego Padres O/U 9
Team | Moneyline |
---|---|
Colorado Rockies | +128 |
San Diego Padres | -155 |
Peter Lambert allowed half a dozen earned runs six days ago in less than two innings of work. The Padres should have no problem putting up half a dozen more runs once again this evening against the baby-faced righty from San Dimas, CA. The only question gamblers must ask is whether Eric Lauer can contain the Rockies bats. Lauer has a 4.55 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP and 115 strikeouts across 130.2 innings. The righty from Elyria, Ohio rarely makes it beyond the sixth inning. In other words, this game should go over Parx’s run total of 9.
Pick: Over 9
San Francisco Giants at Los Angeles Dodgers O/U 9
Team | Moneyline |
---|---|
San Francisco Giants | +188 |
Los Angeles Dodgers | -235 |
Dereck Rodriguez will likely be hit hard this evening against the Dodgers. Though Rodriguez allowed merely one earned run in his last outing, a 7-inning performance against the Cardinals, the Dodgers lineup is significantly better than any other Rodriguez has faced. The outcome of this game will likely come down to the matchup between Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias and the Giants. Urias will only pitch three innings or so prior to giving way to the bullpen. If Urias can get off to a good start, the Dodgers will likely roll.
Pick: Dodgers moneyline
New York Yankees at Boston Red Sox O/U 11
Team | Moneyline |
---|---|
New York Yankees | -118 |
Boston Red Sox | -104 |
Masahiro Tanaka has had a terrible second half to the season. The veteran righty has mixed in a few shutouts between his meltdowns yet he is well above his career averages in both ERA and WHIP. Red Sox pitcher Rick Porcello allowed three earned runs the last time he faced the Yankees. Porcello was lit up for six earned runs in his last outing, a 6-5 loss to the Twins. Look for both veteran pitchers to settle down tonight for this important in-division matchup. This one should end up below Parx’s run total of 11 runs.
Pick: Under 11
