Aside from the Patriot’s winning record, this NFL season has been quite surprising in a number of ways. For one, the Baltimore Ravens have emerged as Super Bowl favorites thanks to the ascension of Lamar Jackson. The NFC East is also quite intriguing as each team in the division is below .500 with only a couple weeks to go. Week 15 will go a long way in determining how the season turns out.
Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers
SugarHouse has the Packers as 4.5 favorites as this is a home game against a disappointing Bears squad. Though Chicago has surged in recent weeks, the team is still imbalanced. Bears linebacker Roquan Smith is out for the year with a torn pectoral muscle. Look for Mitch Trubisky to regress to the mean this week against the Packers. As the late Dennis Green would say, the Bears are who we thought they were.
Pick: Packers moneyline -235
Houston Texans at Tennessee Titans
The Titans are a field goal favorite over the Texans even though Houston appears to be the better team. The line is set at -3 simply because the Texans lost to the Broncos last week in a major upset. Texans coach Bill O’Brien has not guaranteed wide receiver Will Fuller will play this week. Ryan Tannehill should be solid once again as Houston’s pass defense is quite weak. This is precisely why SugarHouse has the game’s over/under set at 50 points. Deshaun Watson AKA Superman should pull this one out with a heroic effort as the Texans bounce back from the Broncos fiasco and cement their status as legitimate AFC contenders.
Pick: Texans moneyline +125
Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs
The Drew Locke-led Broncos head to Kansas City this week. The Chiefs are fresh off a 23-16 victory over the Patriots. The Broncos might be able to put up 24+ points yet their defense should falter against a loaded KC offense. Look for this game to hit the over.
Pick: Over 46
Miami Dolphins at New York Giants
The Giants were in the playoff mix with a mere two wins until losing to Philadelphia on Monday Night Football. Eli Manning will start once again against the fish. Ryan Fitzpatrick has successfully resuscitated his career in Miami. However, the Giants defense laid a beat down on Carson Wentz last week.
Pick: Giants moneyline -182
Seattle Seahawks at Carolina Panthers
The Panthers are below .500, recently fired their head coach and are preparing to send Cam Newton out of town. In other words, this is a disaster of a season for Carolina. The Seahawks looked quite vulnerable last week against the Rams. Seattle’s defense and offensive line were particularly disappointing. Look for the birds to bounce back this week against the Panthers.
Pick: Seahawks -6
Jacksonville Jaguars at Oakland Raiders
SugarHouse has the Raiders as nearly a full touchdown favorite against the Jags even though Oakland has faltered toward the end of the season. Gardner Minshew might be slightly better than Nick Foles yet it looks like both will end up as journeyman quarterbacks in the league. The Jaguars defense has been a major letdown this year yet the Raiders offense is not exactly intimidating.
Pick: Under 45
Cleveland Browns at Arizona Cardinals
It can be said without even the slightest doubt that the Cardinals are one of the league’s worst teams. Kyler Murray has been sacked more than any quarterback in the league. Though Baker Mayfield might not be 100% due to an injury to his throwing hand, he should be good-to-go this week against the Cardinals.
Pick: Browns moneyline -150
Minnesota Vikings at Los Angeles Chargers
SugarHouse has the Chargers as slight dogs against Minnesota as the Vikings appear to have slightly more balance on both sides of the ball. However, the Chargers are in the midst of a “dead cat bounce” as investors often say so this game is difficult to predict. A couple starting defensive backs returned to the lineup last week for the Chargers. Look for both teams to focus on the ground game, helping this matchup hit SugarHouse’s under.
Pick: Under 45
Los Angeles Rams at Dallas Cowboys
It is hard to believe the Cowboys could lose all of their remaining games but for the matchup with the Eagles and back into the playoffs with a sub-.500 record. The Rams looked quite formidable last week against Seattle. However, this is a home game for Dallas with high stakes. Look for Dallas to get out to a hot start and carry the momentum to a close win in a wild game.
