This week of football actions brings us several intriguing prime time matchups. The undefeated Patriots will host the Giants on Thursday Night Football. The Chargers look to bounce back against the Steelers on Sunday evening. The Packers and Lions will square off on Monday Night Football in what will almost surely end up as a high-scoring contest. Let’s take a look at the likely winners and over/unders.
New York Giants +16.5 at New England Patriots -16.5 Over/Under 42.5
SugarHouse has the Giants listed as enormous underdogs in this matchup with the undefeated Patriots. Though Daniel Jones has played surprisingly well in his first couple starts, he probably won’t be able to put up more than 20-25 points against the Patriots defense. The Pats took the Redskins to the woodshed last week and will likely do the same to the Giants in this home game.
Pick: Over 42.5
Seattle Seahawks -1.5 at Cleveland Browns +1.5 Over/Under 48.5
Cleveland was embarrassed on Monday Night Football in a matchup with the 49ers. Seattle is proving once again that has more than enough talent on both sides of the ball. SugarHouse has this matchup listed at nearly a pick’em as it is hard to tell if the Browns will rebound against a good Seattle defense. Look for Baker Mayfield to hook up with Odell Beckham Jr. for several big plays in this one.
Pick: Browns +1.5
Houston Texans +4.5 at Kansas City Chiefs -4.5 Over/Under 54.5
The Texans are one of the more unpredictable teams in the league. As soon as it looks like Houston is one of the elite squads, they lay an egg in an easy matchup. This week’s contest with the battered Chiefs will be quite entertaining. Sammy Watkins and Patrick Mahomes are both nursing injuries. The Texans should pull off the upset on the road while KC tends to its wounds.
Pick: Texans moneyline +184
Philadelphia Eagles +2.5 at Minnesota Vikings -2.5 Over/Under 44
The Eagles appear to be the better team in this matchup. However, it is hard to wager against Dalvin Cook. Kirk Cousins is due for a big game, Cook is healthy and the Eagles have plenty of firepower on offense so this one will likely go over.
Pick: Over 44
New Orleans Saints +1 at Jacksonville Jaguars -1 Over/Under 44.5
Teddy Bridgewater will once again lead the Saints into action as Drew Brees works his way back from a thumb injury. The Jaguars are listed as -1 favorites by SugarHouse as this is a home matchup. However, Jacksonville’s Minshew magic ran out last week and starting cornerback Jalen Ramsey will likely sit out at least a few more games. The Saints just might win yet another one with Teddy at the helm.
Pick: Over 44.5
Atlanta Falcons -2.5 at Arizona Cardinals +2.5 Over/Under 52
The Falcons and Cardinals have the potential to put up 60 or more combined points. Both teams have healthy offenses and this game will be played in a dome so there are no weather concerns to worry about. The Falcons are clearly the more balanced team yet SugarHouse has them as mere 2.5 point favorites.
Pick: Over 52
Pittsburgh Steelers +6.5 at Los Angeles Chargers -6.5 Over/Under 41.5
The Steelers will start quarterback in Devlin Hodges in this prime time matchup. Hodges was halfway decent last week against Baltimore. Even if Hodges is able to make it through this game in one piece, the Chargers will likely win by 10+ points. Though Los Angeles was terrible last week, this is a home matchup against a bruised and battered Pittsburgh squad.
Pick: Chargers -6.5
Detroit Lions +4.5 at Green Bay Packers -4.5 Over/Under 47
The Packers and Lions should put up 50+ combined points in this contest. Lions starting quarterback Matt Stafford healed up during the bye week so the Lions will be firing on all cylinders. The Packers are coming off an epic win against the Cowboys. Look for Green Bay to light it up in this home matchup, sending the point total over SugarHouse’s expected 47.
Pick: Over 47
