Day 2 at the Memorial is over, and our featured player’s results varied widely. Two of them missed the cut, while two more remain in contention. There is still plenty of golf to be played over the weekend. Saturday is known as “moving day” on Tour, so you can expect the leaderboard to look very different this time tomorrow. Will one of our players be atop it? Check out their odds below, then tune in tomorrow to find out.
The Memorial Tournament Favorites
Rory was the overwhelming favorite coming into this tournament, but he faltered in Round 1, shooting a three over par 75. He came back a little today with a one under par 71. However, he still missed the cut. A very disappointing performance from the man that many picked to win this week.
Tiger started off the tournament with a solid two under par 70. He didn’t play quite as well today, finishing with an even par 72. He is seven shots back of the lead, which certainly isn’t an insurmountable gap considering that there are still two rounds to play. SugarHouse puts his odds at +6600 going into the weekend.
The Memorial Tournament Underdogs
Harold Varner III
Varner III continued his struggles this week, following up yesterday’s two over par 74 with a three over par 75 today, As you might expect, this resulted in a missed cut. Varner III is off to a bit of a mixed start to the season, with several strong performances and several poor performances.
Ryan Moore was the leader after the first round of play yesterday, putting his odds at +1100 according to the SugarHouse sports book. He followed his 65 on Day 1 with a four over par 75 today. He is now five back of the lead going into the weekend. Moore could still find himself in the winner’s circle on Sunday if he goes low tomorrow. SugarHouse put his odds of winning the tournament back at +10000, which is exactly where they started before the beginning of play.
